Keeping Your Certificate Current 2016

The state has made the process for re-certifying a bit more clear on their site. Go to http://maine.gov/doe/cert/renewal/index.html and select the renewal that is applicable to you. The State has signaled that changes are in the wind, but for now, it is still a "by mail" process. Currently, there is no news as to when renewal applications will be mailed. Their site does say that the time to process a renewal is anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks or 8 to 10 weeks depending on which page of the site you read. Our experience this year has been more in line with the 10 week window.

Once you receive your new certificate, make two copies. Send one copy to the District Office in care of Debbie Anderson and the other copy to the middle school in care of Doreen
Swanholm. If you have any questions about the process, please contact your building representative.

So You've Been Asked to Be a Support Coach

Professional Renewal Plans

Time to write a new Professional Renewal Plan? Here are the steps:

  1. Take a look at the Ten Teaching Standards . You can find these standards in two places. There is a short description of these standards in the newsletter, found below in the files, or you can visit the state's site for a more detailed look at the standards. A link for the state site is located near the bottom of this webpage.

    2. Complete the Professional Renewal Form, which can be found in the folder below entitled, " Forms ."

* For each goal identify the Teaching Standard(s) your goal addresses.

* Please be sure to include at least three goals on your plan. You can earn up to a maximum of 45 hours toward a single goal. You need 90 hours (or 2 courses) of credit to be re-certified.

  1. Give your completed form to your building representative who will do a quick check before sending it on to Doreen Swanholm at the middle school. Professional Renewal Plans are due no later than the first week back in January.
